I found a manga you might like jlh but its a little depressing since its a mecha but once the mech wins on either side of battle the pilot dies and it involves children fighting against their alternate reality selves.

well I read scanlations and it pretty interesting twist to show dynamic relationship of nationalism versus democratic methods on top of zombies
