New AC creation: Opinions and feedback requested

Harmless has talked to GG and so far the idea doesn't seem to have any hitches at the moment. I consulted a few others about bringing the idea up, and as it's been a month we've come to the decision to try and recreate the animechains forum. The current idea at the moment is to use the archive forum I sat up earlier this year as the new site and there are several things I can do:

• firstly, I've archived the FAQs so I should be able to restore the user ranks to the original set used on the old forum.
  
• All staff members of the old forum will have their positions restored, Nevyn and GG would be reappointed as administrators, and all mods who retained a staff position up to the point the site closed will retain their original moderator positions if they so choose.
  
• I can ask someone on one of the support forums to see if we can get a customised skin.
  
• The current archive forum would retain a section with a number of old threads so that they can be discussed or continued.
  
• joinable groups established prior to the closing of the forum will be restored
  

The archive forum would be closed for a few days whilst I set up all of the permissions, forums, staff positions and skinning. I'll need about 4 days (conservatively) to set up the forums and make it ready for use, although I can possibly finish it sooner, depending on how much headway I can get.

For those who are here if you have any suggestions for the new forum please let me know ASAP.
The site name can remain AnimeChains, the name of the forum itself will not be a problem, the only change will be the forum URL, which I'll be changing to match as closely to the forum name as possible. For now the URL will use the zetaboards name in it (http://s1.zetaboards.com/*forum name*/index.php

Any member who was a moderator at the time the forum went out, and would like the position back, please make sure you have an account and send me a message. We'll figure out the forums distribution for staff as we get things set up.

My hope is to be able to start working on the forum today, however I'll start slowly until we have a consensus as to the opinions of people here.

Again, if you have ideas, suggestions, feedback, anything to ask or comment on, please feel free to fire away, The skin, banner, and others are on the table for suggestions, like should we go with a classic AC look? or use a different skin? banners, ect... suggestions are welcome

whoa..... im excited just as n e one is to get AC back but dude...... talk about hella confusing!
i mean seriously i was lost in that all the fricken links and different places. if i may make a suggestion make it a little less confusing. i think part of the reasons y we loves AC so much is cause it was a koul place to hang and it was user friendly. dont get me wrong im stoaked that well get our AC back. but it still needs some help. and like this place....... this place was user friendly.... u could get around easily! but just saying u dont have too listen. u wanted an opion and well theres mine.

I'd rather make the transition as smooth as possible, I've made the user groups already based on the titles Haru made so those are set up. By user friendly I gather navigation right? For the forum layout? If so, my intention is to restore that layout... I'll be using a web-archive to get the forum layout correct...

yes i mean navigation wise tis confusing and not user friendly. i am happy that everyone ish trying so hard to get AC back but AC was AC nothing can replace the old AC. so that being said. when we get AC back up is this forum going to be gone? i hope not. ive grown on this forum. but thank u for listening to me and answering ym questions.

Will this Forum still be active? I rather like and I hope that I can still come on here and chat...?

That is my only concern with a new AC being added. I never thought it would replace AC or vice versa, so to most memebers here also...

I personally am but just thought I'd bring my worry out there.

Not that I know of... Whether you use this forum or any reincarnation of the anime chains is up to you... whoever wants to use any reincarnation of the site is welcome to as well... to the best of my knowledge there are no plans for this place being deleted, since it became a temporary meeting place when the old AC went over... Perlissa would likely state so if there ever were such plans...

I got the main forums done so it's usable, the only things left are figuring out which forums to put into the series discussions, announcement threads, and aesthetics which I'll be working with everyone to get done...

The URL is gonna change when I change the name of the forum, just be aware of that... I'll post the new link when I change it... but only the end of the link will change...

Alright I was just making sure. Is this going to be posted in the Group on Facebook as well?

I am sure this goes without saying but I think people who reregister, should use their old AC names...-shrug- It'd be easier but they don't have to of course.

To my knowledge it's not on face book yet.. I'll post it there sooner or later tonight

hmmm to answer a few questions.
This forum will not be locked or shut down...but I will be active at the new AC, if I'm around, there is a high possibility I may not be...but if a few of the Baby Human members still want to post here go head, your welcomed to.^^ Yet like I said I'm not sure if I'll be around. :) hope that clears things up.

I still need to see which staff members want their positions back

I looked around on the IFSZ site and they apparently don't have the skin request option anymore... i might need to learn how to do it to get the old feel back... for the time being I'll try and find a reasonably simple sig...

Twas the only other forum where I made over 1,000 posts... my maximum so far 'was' 17,800 until the GS one went south

Oh... for the series specific discussions, what forums shall we styart with... shall we begin naming some... I know a few obvious ones.... just need a feel for other ones that people are gonna want...

I know Pretty Kitty wants her position back...I emailed GG and Nevs so we'll have to wait about them.

Any way, I'm not sure there's a heck of a lot that can be done... most everything is ready, I'm gonna make the finishing touches today which deals with putting in the series specific forums and sticky threads from the old board. I just changed the URL:

So you will need to use that to access it now, I'll update the link on face book later today

Anybody who had a staff position on the old forum and wants to have that restored can proceed with contacting me so that I can pre-register them. If you already made an account, them please let me know either through here or on the new site. I need to know what forums you originally had (if you remember), or any changes to the lineup that you want. The google page caches aren't providing the information I need for this.

I got it... also finally found a bunch of the old emocions from the old board. Turns out I saved a bunch a couple years back so I have some of them... I'm uploading them as I speak :)

It got through, I'm still getting used to the setup for it as well... in any event, I can't set up individual moderators at this time, because they disabled it for upgrades, so at least in the short term the moderators will hold global stats.

The forums setup is done, :)

but other than the couple of people I've been in contact with I don't know which staff members plan of going or if they want their positions back (SA, & Fire Kitten I know want positions back as well as a couple Harmless has mentioned).... if anything I can contact them, I'm not sure how many follow this thread....

The logo, and the filling up of anime series specific discussion forums can be done on sort of a want-on-want basis.... those'll be pretty open for a while.... I don't suspect that forum security will be a problem for now so if you want to get started on there it's open.

The logo will be done later, Probably I think it'll be good to leave the design ideas to you all, and then we can make it..

Just out of curiousity, sicne everyone is restarting on the new board with a clean slate and a nice zero post count is it at all possible for Baka Land posts to be counted this time around?

I personally don't have a problem with it, if nobody else has objections to it... I haven't turned it off so far. If GG and Nevyn plan on administering there then we need to consult with them, as of yet I don't know what their plans are... I sent a message to them both a couple of weeks ago, but they haven't responded yet.
